Key Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:

The NPD Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and launch of new products within the FMCG portfolio. This role involves managing cross-functional teams to ensure new product concepts meet market needs, are developed on time, and are aligned with the companys strategic objectives. The NPD Manager will drive innovation while maintaining high quality, cost efficiency, and scalability for mass-market appeal.

Key Responsibilities: NPD Manager/Sr. Manager – Chaudhary Group Gurugram 

Product Testing & Quality Assurance:
  • Having technical understanding a variety of Flavors’ and key savory raw materials (spices, herbs, vegetable powders, yeast etc.), Seasoning, Snacks & Noodles.
  • Creating products in accordance with consumer tastes, nutritional needs, production specifications, established procedures, regulatory and cost requirements.
  • Responsible for all the task related to the new product development (Ingredient sourcing, vendor management, product development, packing requirement, regulatory, product approval & production scale up)
  • Coordinating and participating in the preparations and application studies of various marinades, coating solutions, meat functional bases and seasonings in different food sectors.
  • Product testing and analyze the results evaluate texture and presentation of food items and offer opinion on food packaging and even cost.
  • Ensure in market product meeting design and quality compliance.
  • Studying various market products and to compare them with our respective brands and to assess for modifications in the composition, label claim or process parameters of the product. Identifying innovation projects and drives to deliver in stipulated time.
  • Oversee product testing phases, including sensory tests, usability trials, and consumer acceptance studies.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet industry standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure products are scalable for large-volume production and maintain consistency in quality.
  • Provide insight to stakeholders on the product and market. Manage all aspects of in-life products, including customer feedback, Regulatory, innovation, requirements and market relevant solutions
Product Development & Innovation:
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end product development process, from ideation to commercialization.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends and consumer needs.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to translate consumer insights into actionable product concepts.
  • Develop and validate prototypes, ensuring products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on product development objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage external partnerships with suppliers, agencies, and manufacturers.
  • Facilitate project teams, ensuring smooth communication and timely delivery of product milestones.
Project Management:
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage product development timelines and ensure that milestones are met while mitigating risks and delays.
  • Report regularly on the progress of NPD projects to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities.
Consumer & Market Insights:
  • Leverage consumer data, surveys, focus groups, and other research methods to shape product design and positioning.
  • Identify key trends in the FMCG space and ensure the product portfolio evolves in response to changing consumer preferences.
  • Ensure that NPD projects are aligned with brand strategy and consumer expectations.
Launch & Go-to-Market Strategy:
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to develop go-to-market strategies for new products.
  • Plan and execute product launch activities, including product positioning, packaging design, and promotional campaigns.
  • Monitor product performance post-launch and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field. (Masters degree is a plus)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product development within the FMCG industry (preferably in a similar category).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching new products to market.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with market research and consumer insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining attention to detail in execution.
Desirable:
  • Experience in working with external manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and regulatory standards in FMCG.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies or product development frameworks.
