Key Responsibilities
Food Safety Management
• Develop and implement robust food safety systems across factories,
warehouses, vendors, and supply chain operations.
• Ensure compliance with:
- FSSAI regulations
- Legal Metrology requirements
- AGMARK/BIS standards wherever applicable
- Internal SOPs and food safety protocols
• Drive implementation and sustenance of:
- HACCP
- GMP
- GHP
- SSOP
- CAPA systems
• Conduct periodic food safety risk assessments across the value chain.
Process Control & Quality Assurance
• Define process control parameters for:
- Cleaning
- Grading
- Sorting
- Packing/Repacking
- Storage
- Transportation
• Establish quality checkpoints for loose and packaged grocery categories.
• Monitor critical quality attributes such as:
- Moisture
- Foreign matter
- Infestation
- Broken percentage
- Microbial limits
- Packaging integrity
• Develop and strengthen systems for batch traceability and recall management.
Staples Categories Coverage
The role will oversee quality and food safety for categories including:
- Cereals, Breakfast cereals and Grains
- Pulses and Dals
- Sugar and Sweeteners
- Floors and Milling Products
- Dry fruits and Nuts
- Spices and Masalas/Branded Masalas
- Powder Spices
- Salt and Seasonings
- Regional Staple
- Packaged grocery categories
Vendor & Factory Quality Governance
• Audit vendors, mills, processing units, and packaging facilities.
• Develop vendor quality scorecards and approval mechanisms.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions for non-compliances.
• Ensure adherence to hygiene standards across:
- Manpower
- Equipment
- Infrastructure
- Pest control
- Water quality
• Coordinate third-party laboratory testing and certifications.
Supply Chain Quality Control
• Monitor food safety risks during:
- Procurement
- Transportation
- Warehouse storage
- Distribution
• Define warehouse hygiene and storage standards.
• Implement FEFO/FIFO controls and shelf-life management systems.
• Drive reduction in customer complaints, returns, and quality deviations.
