Position Summary : Everest Spices is looking for a hands-on and experienced professional to manage raw material quality for spices at our Umbergaon facility. This role is critical to ensuring that all incoming spices and ingredients meet company quality, safety, and regulatory standards before they enter production.

The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of spice raw materials, including quality parameters, defects, storage conditions, and impact on final product taste, safety, and shelf life.

Role & responsibilities
1. Raw Material Quality Control :
  • Ensure quality inspection and approval of all incoming spices and raw materials as per defined specifications.
  • Define and maintain raw material quality standards, SOPs, and checklists.
  • Identify and control risks related to adulteration, contamination, and non-conformance.
2. Supplier Quality & Development :
  • Work closely with procurement to improve supplier quality performance.
  • Conduct supplier audits, evaluations, and quality reviews.
  • Support sourcing teams in qualifying new spice vendors and farmers where required.
3. Testing & Documentation
  • Oversee physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of raw materials.
  • Ensure proper documentation of COA, test reports, and batch-wise traceability.
  • Maintain compliance records for internal and external audits.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Production, QA, Procurement, and NPD teams to resolve raw material-related issues.
  • Support production trials and root cause analysis for quality deviations.
5. Compliance & Food Safety
  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI, internal quality systems, and customer standards.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
Preferred candidate profile :
  • At least 6+ years of direct experience handling spice raw materials.
  • Strong knowledge of spice raw materials (chilli, turmeric, coriander, cumin, pepper, blended spices, etc.).
  • Understanding of quality parameters, adulteration risks, and contamination control.
  • Knowledge of testing methods, COA management, and traceability systems.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and problem-solving mindset
  • Working knowledge of SAP for raw material quality checks, COA tracking, and quality documentation.
Education: B.Sc in Food Technology, Agriculture, Microbiology, Chemistry / MS/M.Sc(Science) in Food Technology, Agriculture, Microbiology, Chemistry
