Job Summary
The Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations at the food processing facility, ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, food safety, manpower management, and cost control while meeting production targets and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Plan, organize, and manage daily production activities to meet targets as per production plan.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.
- Monitor production efficiency, yields, and wastage; implement corrective actions.
- Ensure timely execution of production schedules.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for internal and external audits.
- Ensure product quality, hygiene, and sanitation standards are maintained across the plant.
- Handle deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints related to manufacturing.
Manpower & Administration
- Manage plant manpower including shift planning, attendance, discipline, and productivity.
- Train operators and supervisors on SOPs, food safety, safety practices, and hygiene.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Maintenance & Utilities
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines and utilities.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of production equipment.
- Reduce downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor raw material, packaging, and finished goods inventory.
- Control manufacturing costs, reduce wastage, and improve yield.
- Coordinate with stores and SAP teams for accurate stock management.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure workplace safety, statutory compliance, and implementation of safety systems (LOTO, PPE, fire safety).
- Conduct safety drills and risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Kaizen, Gemba, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Implement process improvements to enhance capacity, quality, and efficiency.
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in food manufacturing operations.
- Prior experience in sauces, condiments, FMCG, or processed food industry preferred.
- Strong exposure to audits, regulatory compliance, and team management.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Production planning and execution
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- SAP knowledge preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
