Whey Procurement Manager – Job Description
Location: Vile Parle, Mumbai
Qualification required: – B. Tech Food Technology / MSc Food Technology
Experience: 6-10 years procurement experience, ideally with high exposure to procurement of protein and milk powders
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement & Sourcing Manager to lead our global protein (whey, milk solids, SMP, plant protein) sourcing. This individual will be responsible for securing high-quality protein ingredients (whey, WPC, WPI, SMP, plant protein, etc.) through strong supplier relationships, market intelligence, and cost-effective negotiation. The ideal candidate has deep connections with whey manufacturers and traders worldwide, understands the nuances of the global dairy supply chain, and can anticipate and act on market shifts to ensure consistent supply and optimal pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
● Build, maintain, and expand relationships with whey manufacturers, processors, and traders across major producing regions (India, Europe, US, New Zealand, etc.).
● Develop and execute a sourcing strategy that balances cost efficiency, quality, and reliability of supply.
● Track global whey production trends, price movements, and demand dynamics. Prepare regular market reports and forecasts.
● Negotiate supplier agreements and long-term contracts to secure competitive pricing and stable supply.
● Monitor currency, logistics, and market risks, implementing strategies to mitigate disruptions in supply or price volatility.
● Work closely with the operations, R&D, and finance teams to align procurement with business needs and product development goals.
Qualifications:
● 6-10 years experience in procurement, with exposure to whey or dairy ingredient procurement, trading, or supply chain management.
● Network of global whey suppliers and manufacturers.
● Strong commercial negotiation skills.
● Understanding of global dairy market trends, logistics, and pricing structures.
● Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
