Role Objective
• To support the team lead in development and implementation of new product pipeline for the Foods Categories focused on Spices, Grains & Pantry Staple, Dry Fruits, Dry Mixes and emerging new value-added categories.
• To adopt the culture of innovation as laid out in the Innovation Management Process and support the team lead to drive product innovation projects.
• Assist in product cost improvement projects in the current business and thereby improve product margins and the company bottom line.
• Help the team lead in identifying new vendors for developing / adapting new technologies, materials and processes as part of development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• This role is responsible for assisting in the execution of product briefs and help in process finalization for Foods projects for India business in areas of product and cost innovation.
• Develop appropriate specifications for RM/FG to support NPD.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory, provide necessary technical inputs, and adopt and implement protocols for lab infrastructure and maintain accurate records of experiments and investigation and the progress of projects.
• Adhere to Internal processes and procedures and ensuring proper documentation of all the scientific and technical work carried out.
• Prepare materials for submission to external lab evaluation.
• Be a user of R&D processes – Product Database system (Innova/Mintel), Specification management tool and Sensory management tool etc
• Able to conduct benchmarking exercises, shelf studies and assist in the planning and design of work for projects.
• Carry out lab / pilot scale trials and assist in the planning and execution of plant scale trials.
• Liaise with internal R&D team (Packaging, Project Management, Analytical) and external CFT for project activities.
• Provide regular update to the manager on the project details.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology / Food Engineering from a reputed institute.
• At least 4-7 years’ experience in Foods R&D in Top FMCG organizations.
• Good understanding and some work experience in the areas of Spice Blends / Meal Makers /Seasonings is highly desirable.
• Experience in hands on work in the laboratory with awareness about GL
