Scale of Pay – Pay Level 11 of the Pay Matrix of ROPA 2019.
Qualification –
- A degree in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Bio-Technology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Services or Bio-chemistry or Micro-Biology or Master’s Degree in Chemistry or a Degree in Medicine from a Recognized University.
- Qualification required under F.S.S. Rules 2011 as will be amended time to time, (as amended by the Government of West Bengal, Health & Family Welfare Department and following guidelines have been intimate by the Commissioner of Food Safety, West Bengal vide no.124/HF/CFS /1A-11/2013 DT. 29.09.2016): – As per Rule-2.1.3(1) (iii) of Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011 training has to be completed successfully before issuance of the appointment letter by the Commission of Food Safety.
- As per guidelines of FSSAI, the duration of training of a Food Safety Officer is 40 (forty) days and Food Safety Officers newly notified by State can smoothly perform their duties and implement the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and Rules and Regulations, thereunder, a course of 5(five) days is proposed to be conducted by the Food Authority on an interim basis.
- Has successfully completed training as specified by the Food Authority in a recognized Institute or Institution approved for the purpose.
Age limit – Age not more than 39 years on 1st January of the year of advertisement.
Note: Both men & women are eligible to apply for the post.
Uploading of documents and Certificate: Document regarding Essential Qualifications, Caste & PWD certificate must be scanned and uploaded along with online application. Certificates must be gained within the closing date of Advertisement or before.
Submission Of Bond: Candidates called for personality Test/ Interview will have to submit a Bond on Rs. 50/ Stamp Paper to the effect that they will arrange for temporary lodging/Shelter for doing emergency duties as and when may be required by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Authorities.
Age Relaxation. The upper age limit shall be relaxable for Schedule Castes, Scheduled Tribes candidates of West Bengal, by 5 years and by 3 years for Other Backward Classes (OBC-A & OBC-B) candidates. In the case of Persons with Disabilities of 40%, the upper age-limit shall be relaxable up to 45 years. A Mode of Examination.
The examination will be held in two successive stages, viz. (1) Written Test (Objective Type). (2) Personality Test, as detailed below:
Written Test: 300 marks
The OMR based Written Examination will consist of only one paper containing Multiple Choice Objective Type 150 Questions carrying 2 mark each will be conducted There will be negative marking of 1 (one) mark each for every incorrect/wrong answer Questions will be set in English and time allowed will be 2% (two and half) hours.
Personality Test. 60 marks
Candidates about 3 (three) times of the vacancy, will be called on merit basis for Personality Test, subject to obtaining qualifying marks @45% for General Candidates, @ 40 % 0BC (A) & D.B.C. (B) Candidates and @ 35% for SC ST & PH Candidates

The examination will consist of only one paper on
(1) General Studies (General Knowledge, Current Events, General Science, Mathematics (Madhyamik Standard), elementary knowledge of Indian History and Indian Geography, Indian Constitution and Polity etc)
(2) Main Subject
(a) Food Chemistry (b) Chemical constitutes of foods (c) Food Microbiology (d) Basal energy metabolism (e) Storage Requirements & Storage structures for perishable and non-perishables (f) Beverage (g) Fluid Milk (h) Food Processing Technology (i) Food Laws and Organizations (j) Hygiene & Sanitation (k) Public & Occupational health and Nutrition (k) Principle underlying spoilage and preservation of foods etc.
Application Fee: (Non-Refundable)
1) Application fee for U.R. & O.B.C. (A & B) candidates are Rs. 150-00 (Rupees One hundred and fifty) plus Processing Charges Rs. 50-00 (Rupees Fifty) for On-line payment.
2) For S.C., S.T. & P.H. candidates only Processing Charges Rs. 50-00 (Rupees Fifty) for On-line payment. 3) The application fees plus Processing charges as mentioned in Para’s (1) and (2) above shall be collected by On-line payment method only through Indiaideas.com Limited (Bill Desk) as mentioned at our website www.mscwb.org.
Miscellaneous: A candidate now in service under Central or the State Government / Semi-Government / Local / Statutory Body shall have to ensure that No-Objection Certificate (N.O.C.) from his/her present Employer reaches the Office of the West Bengal Municipal Service Commission within 7 (Seven) days preceding the date of Personality Test / Interview. Otherwise, he/she will not be considered for eligible for the Personality Test / Interview. If at any stage a candidate is found ineligible for admission in terms of condition of eligibility for this Examination, his/her candidature will be rejected without further reference to him/her.
Last Date: Last date for Registration for on-line application and the process of submission of Application must be completed by 16/04/2022.
