The Centre of Excellence for Food Fortification (CEFF) at the National Institute of Food Technology and Entrepreneurship Management (NIFTEM), an institute under Ministry of Food Processing Industries, has added another milestone as NIFTEM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mumbai-based Hexagon Nutrition for the setting up of a Rice Fortification Unit.
Another feather in the cap is the commencement of capacity building programmes for Health Supplements and Nutraceuticals in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (through Resource Centre for Health Supplements and Nutraceuticals i.e. ReCHaN) under the aegis of CEFF.
The CEFF was inaugurated at the NIFTEM Kundli campus a few week ago. The primary objective of establishing this center of excellence is to bolster the practical know-how of the staple food fortification process along with this theoretical knowledge via classroom training and on-site demonstrations.
CEFF has been set up at NIFTEM in partnership with Hexagon Nutrition and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). It is a first of its kind to support and promote staple food fortification in India, through engagement of all the stakeholders.
